District Teams

At the conclusion of each Little League regular season, local leagues have the opportunity to enter tournament teams into Little League's official postseason tournaments in both baseball and softball. These tournaments begin in June and, for qualifying teams, can lead all the way to the Little League World Series later in the summer. Each year, Plymouth Little League proudly fields several tournament teams, commonly referred to as our District Teams. These teams represent Plymouth Little League in the District 22 Tournament, competing against neighboring Little League programs from across the area.

District Team Tryouts & Selection

Selection to a District Team is competitive. Plymouth Little League conducts District Team tryouts each season, giving eligible players the opportunity to demonstrate their skills.

To be considered for a District Team, players must:

  • Be Little League tournament eligible in accordance with Little League International rules.

  • Have participated in a minimum of eight (8) regular season games.

  • Have consistently demonstrated good sportsmanship and upheld the Plymouth Little League Code of Conduct throughout the regular season.

  •

Players are evaluated based on:

  • Performance during the District Team tryout/evaluation workout.

  • Performance throughout the regular season, including evaluations and feedback provided by head coaches.

Following the evaluation process, the District Team Manager (Head Coach) and the league's Lead Evaluator work together to select the final tournament roster. Selection is based on a player's overall ability, effort, attitude, sportsmanship, and the needs of the team. Participation in tryouts does not guarantee selection to a District Team.

Player Eligibility

To be eligible for a Plymouth Little League District Team, a player must meet Little League International Tournament Eligibility requirements.

Players must:

  • Reside within Plymouth Little League's approved league boundaries, or

  • Attend a school located within Plymouth Little League's league boundaries, or

  • Receive an approved waiver from Little League International, when applicable.

The Little League International Charter Committee in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, is the only authority that can approve waivers related to league boundaries, residency, school attendance, or tournament eligibility.Waiver requests cannot be submitted directly by families. Any request must first be approved by the Plymouth Little League Board of Directors and then forwarded through the District Administrator (DA) and the appropriate Little League Regional Office before being reviewed by the Little League International Charter Committee.

Tournament Play

District Teams begin postseason play in the District 22 Tournament, competing against neighboring Little League programs from across the area.Teams that win the District 22 Championship advance to the next level of tournament play, with the opportunity to continue through Sectionals, the Pennsylvania State Tournament, Regionals, and ultimately, the Little League World Series.
